The Latest News is terrible news...

Greetings my Friends,

After having served six years in the army and one deployment to Kuwait and Iraq for the war, I got out of the military. More than a year has passed and I've finally managed to settle down here in Germany and I've finally gotten a job that's worth a shit. Now that everything seems to be going well, the army has thrown me lemon. With less than a year left on my inactive reserve (anyone who enlists with the military is tied up for a term of eight years. If you enlist for 6 years as I did, once completed you remain an inactive part of the military for the other two years) The army has mobilized me for active duty. That means I have to drop everything I'm doing, all that I've accomplished since transisioning back into a civilian and report to the US for inprocessing. I am to be at Fort Jackson, SC on the 7th of September for mobilization for 25 days. Then I'm projected to be attached to an Engineer Batallion out of Florida to go to Iraq for the war that I don't even believe in for a term not to exceed 425 days!!!! Wow! Ouch!
So that's what's up with me... I know you all have problems of your own in life but please keep me in mind my friends. I'll try to stay in touch.

Trying to think positive, I can imagine having plenty of time for traditional art while I'm sitting in the sand. Hopefully at least.

Sincerely,
Jason

Hi guys, I'd like to introduce you to Sarah :iconxnoelle25: who's the encouraging friendly type that brightens your day here on DA.
Sarah's trying to earn a trip to Japan with H&M (the clothing company for those of you who are fashionably disinclined) and all you guys have to do is visit this [link] and click on the yes button for her. Or you can click on the play button and watch her video and see for yourself how sweet she is :D ... But then of course "Click YES"!!

And if it wouldn't be too much to ask, those of you who don't mind helping Sarah out, put something in your journals for her. It could be that DA helps bring a dream to life all because of you guys! THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Greetins Friends,

I recently scoured DA looking for Fan Art from a few of my favorite Epic Fantasy Authors. I'm really big on reading fantasy novels and I'm smitten by such works as
"The Sword of Truth" by Terry Goodkind, "The Malazan Book of the Fallen" by Steven Erikson, and "The Wheel of Time" by Robert Jordan. Although I didn't find enough art to satisfy my hunger for it, I managed to turn up several very nice pieces. I've compiled a few collections which I will kindly link her in my journal and I'll throw in a few thumbnails as well. I hope you guys enjoy them and I hope I learn that some of my friends are fans of the series as well!

Drawing the spirit of Rock Music

Hi guys,

I've been moping about in self dissapointment due to my meager pageview count. I've been a member way to long to justify my low pageviews and I was just thinking about what to do to remedy the situation. At the same time, I've been thinking of new directions for inspiration with my art. Lately I've made the aquaintances of several very good graphite artists and alot of their portrait work has inspired me. Call me crazy but in the past it's always just been beautiful women that inspire me to draw but recently my mind has opened up to other prospects and I find myself wanting to draw those heroes of music that help me through life everyday. Without my music I think I'd be pretty lost. Bands like Seether, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Graze, Chevelle, Finger Eleven and the like get me pumped up and always seem to have the right sound for the situation. I think in the near future you guys can expect to see me drawing the guys behind the music. I think this is a pretty convenient inspiration because I'm bound to turn up more often on search engines with this type of art.
But then again... I'd probably get more views if I lose the lazyness and just draw more period. :P
In parting: Thanks for the support you guys! Keep sharing your art with me and I'll continue to do the same!

Recovered Artifacts...

Greetings Deviant friends of mine,

Something amazing has happened! A sketchbook full of some of older work that was stolen years ago has found it's way back to me. Not sure how it happened or if the offending party finally felt guilty about it or what... but nevertheless, I now have some work to share with you guys that will fill in that gap in my journey as a learning artist. For along time now I've only been able to show folks my really really old stuff and then the new stuff where I am now and I'm asked quiet often how did I make that jump. I'll be posting some of the art into my scraps (here [link]) for those of you who're interested! A few are there already and there's more to come.
Here're a few of the Recovered Artifacts :P

As for the lack of new art, I'm trying to remedy that as well. I just started a new job in real life and I'm still toughing out the old job too at the moment. Double jobs suck. I'll get on it!

Cheers friends!
